nine through tenth amendments

1. List five ways states have to look after the well-being of its people.

* They have to make laws to make sure they are followed

* They have to make sure that companies that make people NEED make them the right way.

2. List three powers states share with the federal government.

3. Copy the following situations onto your blog. Then write a sentence under each one explaining whether the following statements are a state’s responsibility or the responsibility of the federal government.

a. Issue a teaching license to someone who has applied and has met all the requirements

This would be the states responsibility.

b. Make a treaty with a foreign country

This would be the Federal Governments job.

c. Set health codes for restaurants

Federal Governments job.

d. Issue a marriage license
States responsibility

e. Declare war

5th-8th amendments

Definitions

Witness: Someone who was their at the scene of the crime and saw it happen.

Indict: to charge with an offense or crime

Testify: Is to give testimony under oath or solemn affirmation in court.

Grand Jury
Due Process: Protecting private citizens from the inherent dangers that may exist.

Capital Punishment: punishment by death for a crime (death penalty).

Excessive: Added on time to a jury.

Bail: An amount of money someone might be able to pay if they promise to come back to court.

Peer: Someone who is a companion.

Write a paragraph (5-7 sentences) answering the following questions:

Do you believe that people accused of crimes deserve all of these rights or just some of them? Why or why not?

I think they do deserve all the rights because even though they did a crime they still have to follow the law.

Second-fourth amendments

People say that we should be able to have guns for protection and hunting. Others say we should not becasue they are used as dangerous weapons to hurt or kill people and our used for violence. My opinion is that we should be abl to have guns for protection, hunting, ect. But if someone has a criminal record or a violent past they should not be able to own or carry a gun.

I think that it was fair for soldiers to be able to house in peoples homes during war time because they were risking their lives to defend those people, their homes and country. As long as they were not stealing, or eating all the peoples food, i think it was fair.

A situation in which the police might be able to obtain a warrant to search a house or a building would be if their was evidence that the police were to think that the person in that building or house was hiding stolen property, or even a body.

First ammendment

1.Give a speech before a large gathering of people and express opinions about the president's abilities.
The freedom of speech protects me from having to say what I want and do not want to say.

4. Write a letter for the editorial page of a newspaper in which you criticize a state legislator.

The freedom of speech claims that i can publish whatever i want.

7. Circulate a petition calling for the repeal of an unpopular law.

The law says that i may do this so.

8. Post your opinion on your blog about an issue being discussed at a local school board meeting.

As long as it is not getting any of the staff in trouble or fired i may do so.

B: Freedom of speech is important because people should be able to express their opinions without being brought to jail for saying something that is their own opinion.
